About Me

Welcome, and thanks for visiting my blog, Santa Cruz Stasi.

My name is Sara and I write about life in the beautiful central California coastal town of Santa Cruz. I live here with my husband Jason, our dog Tiki, and our cats Tue and Squash.  Jason and I have been happily married since 2004.

I have many interests and enjoy writing about and sharing them here.  I currently work at the Seymour Discovery Center at Long Marine Lab as the Admissions Coordinator.  For many years I was a a Special Education teacher working with high school students grades 9-12.  I love to write, take photos, read, cook, and get outside in nature.

Over the past few years I have been on a personal journey toward a happier, healthier, more conscious life.  I have made many lifestyle changes in the past five years, many of them documented on this blog.  Currently, I eat a gluten-free, vegan diet and I don't drink alcohol anymore.  I am also much more active than I used to be, enjoying exercises such as running, hiking, Pilates, Zumba, and yoga on a regular basis.  Since 2008, I have lost about 80 pounds by making gradual diet and lifestyle changes.

I continue to strive to live simply and with intention.  Thank you for checking out my corner of the internet.  Please join me as I continue on my path of transformation, and I hope you find inspiration in my story as you travel on your own journey!
