Chantrelle Mushroom Pizza

Crimini Mushroom Pizza

On Thursday, Jason was able to go hiking with a friend and harvest some chantrelle mushrooms from among the redwoods. I was skeptical, having never had this kind of mushroom and also having never eaten anything that my husband has picked up off the ground in the woods.

Jason assured me that I would not die of toxic mushroom poisoning, and after a bit of internet research I agreed to try them on our regular Friday pizza night.

I sliced the mushrooms and sauteed them with some garlic and onions in butter to get rid of some of the moisture, then placed them on some Trader Joe's dough with cheese and sauce. The pizza turned out deliciously.
